Final day of Killarney

July 2nd 2013 and our final day of lovely Killarney.  As we wrote yesterday we made the decision that we needed one more day here.  We also decided that although we were very happy at The Ross hotel we might love a night at the The Park Hotel (a sister hotel to The Ross).   And so with a simple dial to the front desk at The Ross the arrangements were made....our room was booked and our move would be taken care of for us.   We moved from the ultra modern Ross to the Old World charm of The Park and didn't touch our luggage!

To fill our day we did a little shopping but the main event was a 'Jaunty' tour through the Killarney National Park.  A Jaunty is simply a horse drawn carriage.  Moses from yesterday had referred us to a specific driver so our hotel staff made those arrangements for us.   And so Michael, our driver, and Frankie, our horse took us off for a lovely ride in the park.  Michael was as charming as Moses of yesterday he simply drove a horse versus a car!  The ride in the National Park was beautiful and filled with lots of information complements of our driver, Michael.

Upon our return we headed down the street to our 'new' hotel where our luggage had been delivered for us (via a girl walking down the street pulling our stuff behind).  Having passed lunch time and expecting to go down to dinner at 7:00 we opted for a little bite in the bar at the hotel.   It is amazing how the Irish can make a little toasted cheese or ham and cheese sandwich so special!

To finish off our evening and our time in Killarney we enjoyed a lovely dinner in our hotel dining room and a show at a nearby hotel featuring Liam O'Connor who holds the world record for speed in accordion playing. Now I know most folks think....accordion...boring!   Not so, we were amazed at how he could make this instrument sound like a horn or whatever he wanted.  He was accompanied by fiddles and guitars and lovely Irish dancers.   It was a piece of Ireland for sure.

And so we retire tonight after a delightful 5 days on the West Coast and such memorable time sharing with the people here in Ireland.
